Miami Cancer Institute’s Pharmacy Team received the 2022 Warren E. Weaver/Richard P. Penna Award, presented annually by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) to recognize individuals and patient care organizations for advancing health quality and patient care.
we are here to celebrate the accomplishments of the Miami Cancer Institute pharmacy team. Today we received the weaver penna award from the board of pharmaceutical specialties. It's a great honor because you know, pharmacist has transitioned from a primary dispensing role to now being recognized as medication experts in the care of the cancer patients. I think the unique things that we thought as the, as the board and as the committee who to recognize the Miami cancer institute was the amount of specialists. So 80% of your pharmacists are board certified. The other thing is really the leadership of the institution and dr Camejo making sure that she had a vision for how the pharmacy could grow and that she and dr democracy, we're able to grow this in five years. This extraordinary. I am so proud of the team and the work that they've done here and it's really one of the best things for our profession to have that many board certified pharmacists on board, it is just to be awarded. This award is one of the top highlights of my Gloria. Well, if you think about the Miami Cancer Institute were so new in our community and in less than five years we've been able to build an amazing team to care for our community and a team that has been recognized on the national stage for our patients. This should really instill confidence that we have both the clinical expertise as well as the commitment to our practice were among a great team of people and we know that this is just another validation that we are doing a fantastic job at patient care and health care.
