Dr. Diaz earned his medical degree from Instituto Superior de Ciencias Médicas de La Habana in Cuba. He completed a residency in general psychiatry at University of Miami Miller School of Medicine / Jackson Memorial Hospital, followed by a fellowship in geriatric psychiatry at the same institution, where he served as chief fellow. His research has included work focused on Alzheimer’s disease and agitation, contributing to evidence-based approaches in geriatric mental health care.

“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Diaz to Miami Neuroscience Institute,” said Michael McDermott, M.D., chief medical executive and the Irma & Kalman Bass Distinguished Endowed Chair in Clinical Neuroscience at Miami Neuroscience Institute. “His depth of experience in both adult and geriatric psychiatry, along with his dedication to caring for vulnerable populations, strengthens our commitment to providing comprehensive, compassionate mental health care to our community.”

His approach to care is collaborative and individualized. Dr. Diaz believes in partnering with patients to understand their goals, preferences and life context before developing a treatment plan. He strives to provide compassionate, stigma-free care that empowers patients to take an active role in their mental health journey.

Dr. Diaz is fluent in English and Spanish. He will see patients at 8950 N. Kendall Drive, Suite 104W, Miami, Florida.
