Board-certified neurologist Luis Compres-Brugal, M.D., has been appointed director of neuroimmunology/multiple sclerosis at Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute. He specializes in the treatment of multiple sclerosis and neuroimmunological conditions.
Dr. Compres-Brugal will help us build a robust neuroimmunology program and support the expansive neurology needs of our community,” said Diego Torres-Russotto, M.D., chair of neurology and Distinguished Endowed Chair in Neurology at Miami Neuroscience Institute.
Dr. Compres-Brugal earned his medical degree with honors from the Universidad Iberoamericana School of Medicine in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He served as chief resident during his adult neurology residency at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Following his residency, he completed a fellowship in multiple sclerosis and neuroimmunology at the University of South Florida, supported by the National MS Society. During his fellowship, he participated in numerous clinical trials aimed in advancing the field of multiple sclerosis. He was also awarded a scholarship to participate in the MS mentorship forum by the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers.
Dr. Compres-Brugal is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and a member of the American Academy of Neurology.
“My goal as a provider is to offer the best evidence-based care while creating individualized plans to improve patients’ quality of life,” Dr. Compres-Brugal said.
Dr. Compres-Brugal is fluent in English and Spanish. He will see patients at two locations: Baptist Health Brain & Spine Care | Kendall, located at 8950 N. Kendall Drive, Suite 410W, Miami, FL 33176 and Baptist Health Brain & Spine Care | West Kendall, located at 15955 SW 96 St., Suite 460, Miami, FL 33196.
