Nurse Practitioner Alexander Navarro and Physician Assistant Carolina Bajaj graduated from Baptist Health's Advanced Practice Provider Neurology Fellowship.

Nurse Practitioner Alexander Navarro and Physician Assistant Carolina Bajaj received their Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute white coats at their graduation from the Advanced Practice Provider Neurology Fellowship in December.
The pair—the 2025 cohort for this unique fellowship—worked alongside Nurse Practitioners Jamelah Morton, Ph.D., program director, Alexandra Turcios, assistant program director, and Caryn Baldwin, program coordinator, under the direction of Michael McDermott, M.D., chief medical executive and Irma & Kalman Bass endowed chair in clinical neuroscience for the Institute and Chair and Professor of the Department of Neurosciences at Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (FIU Medicine), and Diego Torres-Russotto, M.D., distinguished endowed chair in neurology at the Institute, program director of the FIU/Baptist Health Neurology Residency Program and professor at FIU Medicine, for the past year. As part of the program design, they were introduced to innovative clinical models of learning to enhance their knowledge and skills to deliver high-quality care for patients with acute and chronic neurological disorders in a cost-effective, compassionate and culturally appropriate way. The program also encourages the fellows to practice to the full breadth and scope of their licenses. It is the first post-graduate neurology fellowship training program of its kind in Florida.
